Are You As Nervous As I Am?

A New British Musical

Book by Simon Spencer

Music by Leighton James House

Lyrics by Shaun McKenna

Directed by Phoebe Barran

Orchestrations by Dr Matthew Malone

The story of Peggy Starr, clawing her way out of post-war Wales to find her missing sister, only to stumble into becoming a singing star and diva. She has brought her demons with her, though, and it takes many false starts and broken hearts before Peggy finally finds peace with the girl she was and the woman she has become.

The show ran at Greenwich Theatre, London in October 2022

Katie Elin-Salt as Peggy

Emma Thornett as Janet

Bill Ward as Bob

Daniel Abbott as Larry

Simon Furness as Peter

Sarah Ingram as Catrin

Ian Houghton as Sam

Emily-Mae as Kiki

with Jenny Perry

Orchestrations by Dr Matthew Malone

Directed by Phoebe Barran

Elin-Salt expertly takes Peggy from a bright-eyed, young starlet who accidentally stumbled into the limelight to a washed-up, troubled singer who just wants to be loved, encapsulated in the heart-wrenching “What the Hell is It For?”, by far (for me) the best song in the show.

Leighton James House’s songs, in a variety of styles, are very attractive, as are Shaun McKenna’s lyrics
